The explosion in techniques for data and statistical modeling has not really led to the explosion in data-driven insights that one would have expected.

In this workshop, learn how to answer a business problem using data. Learn how to approach a problem, the kind of questions to ask, the process to gain insight and how to avoid common pitfalls. Using a case-based approach, I will take you through a structured process of data analysis which helps you solve your business problems using data-driven insight.

This is NOT going to be a technical session, and I will not be teaching any actual statistical techniques. I might call upon the use of one or two basic well-known techniques (such as regression), though.

This session is all about the “art” part of data analysis: how to structure your problem, how to attack it, how to gather and clean data, what kind of questions to ask, etc.

Requirements

A laptop with a spreadsheet program is necessary to completely appreciate the session
